17th Green Friday for Detained Burundian HRD Pierre Claver Mbonimpa

East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project stands with Pierre Claver Mbonimpa, who has been unjustly detained since May 2014. Currently suffering from hypertension and diabetes, the 66 year old human rights defender is in hospital and was unable to attend the first day of his trial yesterday.

Souffrant de diabète et d’hypertension, le défenseur des droits de l’homme de 66 ans est hospitalisé et n’a pas pu assister à sa première audience publique hier en raison de son mauvais état de santé.

Malab Alneel was only 20 when Sudan’s revolution started in December 2018, but she knew it was the moment to get involved: “I grew up in a house that was very political. All of my sisters are activists, my parents are very involved. Activism has always been there. But for me it started with the revolution. It just felt like a time for change.”
