To celebrate Human Rights Day the Civil Society Coalition on Human Rights and Constitutional Law has published a statement today in the New Vision and the East African newspapers, emphasising the incompatibility of the Anti-Homosexuality Bill with the core values of Uganda. The Coalition is a broad group of over 45 member organizations – including the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project – that are opposed to the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda. In the statement, the Coalition recalls that human rights are for all and that the Bill undermines Uganda’s standing as a country grounded in a strong constitution and thriving on the rule of law, and where leaders protect, listen and represent each and every citizen’s issues without stigmatization and prejudice.
