East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Network

East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Network represents hundreds of human rights defenders (HRDs) and human rights organisations. The network envisions a region in which the human rights, as guaranteed in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights, are respected and upheld for all citizens.

EHAHRD-Net’s mission is to maximize the protection of HRDs working in the East and Horn of Africa and to enhance the awareness of human rights work through strong linkages with like-minded local, national, regional, and international entities. Together, the members of the Network aim to protect and defend HRDs in the subregion, build their capacity to work safer and more effectively, and to advocate and raise awareness of HRDs in the sub-region.
