Today, 10th March 2014, Mrs Margaret Sekaggya addressed the UN
Seventy one African civil society organisations have collectively written to the African Group calling on every African State to live up to their human rights commitments by supporting the draft UN resolution on protecting women human rights defenders, and by taking concrete steps to protect women defenders in their work.
Six international NGOs have written to H.E Abdelaziz Bouteflika, president of the Republic of Algeria, in a joint letter, urging his government to take concrete, visible steps aimed to meet its obligation to “uphold the highest standards in the promotion and protection of human rights,” as set forth in UN General Assembly Resolution 60/251.
